SPC Kicks Off Citrus Conference Play

SPC Kicks Off Citrus Conference Play

SPC Softball off to 2-2 start in inaugural Citrus Conference Season!

After opening up conference play against the 2-time defending NJCAA National champions (FSW), SPC Softball was able to pull off an impressive sweep of Miami-Dade College in a 2-game series that saw the Titans put up 16 runs.  A 10 strike-out performance by freshman Yina Ballesta Vargas was huge in game one as the righty only allowed the Sharks to score one run on three hits.  The Titans entered the bottom of the 6th inning down 1-0 when freshman Gabby Rascher hit a hard ground ball to shortstop scoring Natalia Alvarez.  Alyssa Brown followed that up with another hard grounder to shortstop that was bobbled, scoring Bre Lyall and resulted in Brown being called safe at first base.  Dani DiBendetto and Kelly Tikel followed with base hits scoring two more runs for the Titans.

In game two, SPC showed off the bats and put up 12 runs on 10 hits and forced 3 errors by Miami-Dade College.  The end results, the Titans ended the game early with a 12-4 (8-run rule) win in the bottom of the 5th inning.

Next up for the Titans, a double-header against the Nationally Ranked (5th) Pioneers of Indian River State College in Ft. Pierce.
