St. Petersburg College Head Softball Coach Bre Myers won her first conference title when her SPC Titans softball team beat Hillsborough Community College on Friday, April 21 at the Titans’ home field, the Eddie C. Moore Softball complex. The win clinched the conference championship and secured the Titans’ spot in the state tournament which starts May 6 in Clermont, Florida.

It was an especially tense game, as the two teams had tied records, both 10-3, and this tiebreaker decided who would be the SunCoast Conference champions.

The Titans had freshman Kaylee Childers on the mound to start the game off, and she did not disappoint. Sophomore Justic McCraine came in the fifth inning to close the game out and secure the championship for SPC, with a final score of 8-5. Kelsey Kadlub and Alyson Lucas led the way offensively for the Titans, and the two were a combined 5/8 on the day.

The game went down in the books as the final SunCoast Conference game, as a reorganization will move teams from four conferences to two.

The team also had the opportunity to celebrate the sophomores, who will be graduating and moving on to the next level to continue their academic and playing careers.
