Lady Titans 2-0 in the Central Conference

Lady Titans 2-0 in the Central Conference

St. Petersburg College's Lady Titans Head Coach Denisha Davidson could not ask for her team to get off to a better start in the Central Basketball Conference. The Titans entered conference play after winning two in a row against some tough NJCAA competition. In fact, the Lady Titans have won 10 of their last 11 games with the only loss coming from the number one team in the nation, the Commodores of Gulf Coast State College.

On Saturday, Jan. 7, SPC opened conference play with a 75-57 win at home over Daytona State College. Olivia Delancy led the Titans in scoring with 18 points.  Jaylen Ponder chipped in with another double-double, scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. The output by Ponder was enough to have her named Player of the Week for the FCSAA.

On Wednesday, the Lady Titans headed up to Duval County to take on Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ). SPC jumped out to an early lead and didn’t look back.  The team was once again led in scoring by freshman Olivia Delancy, who had a game high 23 points. In the end, the Titans came away with a 70-40 win over FSCJ.
