Lady Titans Look Dominant Heading into Conference Play

St. Petersburg College's Lady Titans basketball team played five games during the break, wrapping up with an impressive 4-1, with the only loss coming from the #1 team in the nation, Gulf Coast State College.

On Wednesday, Jan. 4, the Titans had yet another huge test from a nationally ranked team. This time, it was the #15 ranked Pioneers of Indian River State College. Again, the Titans showed how tough they can be by leading the game from start to finish en route to a 73-57 win. While SPC had four players in double digits, the spark was provided by freshman KaYanti Burden, who led all players with 18 points. This was the teams eighth win in the previous nine games!

Up next for SPC, conference play begins with a game on Jan. 7 against Daytona State. Tip-off will be at 2 p.m.

SPC Head Women’s Basketball Coach Denisha Davidson said the upcoming games will be a tough part of the Lady Titans’ schedule but will reveal if the team has what it takes to make a title run.

“We are about to face some of the top teams in the nation, and this will provide a real litmus test for us,” she said.
