In what was seen as good night for baseball the same could not be said for the Titans of St. Petersburg College. The Titans (14-23) have struggled to close in their previous 3 games including last night's 16-12 thriller to the SCF Manatees. State College of Florida started off hot scoring 6 runs in the first 2 innings but, the Titans started to find their groove in the 3rd off when catcher Nicholas Yedman scored a run to cut the defecit to 5 and then scored 4 runs in the 4th and 4 more in the 5th to take a 9-7 lead heading into the 6th. The Manatees answered the bell scoring 3 more in the 6th and 5 more in the 8th to take a 10-9 lead. The Titans offense was held scoreless after the 5th until the bottom of the 9th with the bases loaded. SPC scored 3 in the final inning but, it wasn't enough to pull off the upset. Yedman and third baseman Jaider Morelos lead the team in stats with Yedman having 3 runs, 2 hits and 3 RBI's, Morelos scoring 3 runs off 5 hits. Shortstop Sam Bianco also had a good night leading the team in RBI's with 4. Picher Tanner Walker through 7 innings pitched struggled giving up 7 runs off 7 hits with 6 earned runs and a home run. However, the Titans have a chance to tie this series when they head to Bradenton on Wednesday. First pitch for game 2 against SCF in Bradenton is set for 6pm at the Manatees home field of Robert C Wynn.
