Titans Shutout In Season Finale

Titans Shutout In Season Finale

This season has been a series of growing pains for the Titans of St. Petersburg College. The Titans (14-33) were shutout 12-0 against the Eagles of Polk State College during SPC's annual Sophomore Night event in which 6 players were recognized during a special pregame ceremony. Players Logan Scheu, Ivan Martinez, Will Bruno, Jaider Morelos, Jared Kapurch, and Channing Young were celebrated for their contributions to the Titans baseball program. With regards to the game it was closely contested as both teams played close to the vest through the first 3 innings. It wasn't until the top of the 4th when the Ealges picked up 3 runs in which one those was off a Titans error. The Titans had a chance to tie the game in the fifth with 2 runners on but couldn't close. From there it was all Eagles as Polk scored 2 in the 6th, 4 in the 7th, and 3 in the 8th leading to the shutout and thus the game being called in the 8th. This was a game the Titans were looking forward to redeeming themselves in hopes of going into the offseason with something to prove for next year. The Titans have played hard this year despite what their record both overall and conference suggest otherwise. This team is loaded and with losing only 6 players this team will be back.
