Introducing Oscar Espada: SPC’s New Head Baseball Coach

Introducing Oscar Espada: SPC’s New Head Baseball Coach

After a very thorough search, the St. Petersburg College Athletic Department is pleased to announce the hiring of Oscar Espada as the new Head Coach for the Titans Baseball Program!

Espada, an Iowa State alumnus, has had a long history of player and program development at various levels throughout his career. In 2021, he served as an Assistant Coach at Mississippi Valley State University (NCAA Div I) in charge of pitching coach duties.

One of the things that made him stand out from other candidates was the work he did in building a fully accredited International Boarding Prep School in Sarasota.  This academy focused on integrating sports development and academics. He was responsible for the development, implementation and supervision of workout and training programs for the athletes at the academy.

We had really good candidates for this position, but there was just something about Coach Espada. There were so many good qualities that stood out to the committee. His presence and demeanor will lend itself to running a baseball program that we can all be proud of. I am super excited about this hire, and I know the SPC family will welcome him with open arms.
