Lady Titans upset #1 nationally ranked team

The St. Petersburg College Lady Titans did what many would say was impossible! The Lady Titans made SPC women's basketball history by defeating the #1 nationally ranked team Chipola College (58-55). Coach Davidson expressed:

This was an amazing, hard fought game. I was proud of how these young ladies were able to bounce back after a tough loss and compete at a very high level tonight. The game came down to the wire as both teams were trading baskets.

Game Summary

The Lady Titans were down at halftime (23-21), but they continued to fight. Sophomore Forward Simonne Potts scored a lay-up with .9 seconds remaining on the clock, which put the Lady Titans up by one (56-55). Sophomore Guard Baylie Bridges calmly knocked down a pair of free throws at the line after Potts' lay-up.

Coach Davidson remarked, "This is an exciting time for SPC women's basketball and the college. I'm extremely proud of their effort and determination, but we have a lot more basketball to play this season."

"I thought tonight the team played together and held each other accountable. It was indeed a team effort and everyone played a role in the victory," said Coach Davidson.
