Lady Titans Jump Two Spots in the Rankings

Coach Denisha Davidson and the Lady Titans basketball team participated in the JUCO Shootout Tournament this past weekend at Santa Fe College. The Shootout featured some of the top teams in the state of Florida and the nation. The Titans came into the tournament looking to stay hot and have the same defensive intensity they displayed earlier in the week when they knocked off Florida Southwestern State College.

On Friday, the Titans were up against Tallahassee Community College, who came into the game without a win on the season. SPC jumped out early, getting up as much as 19 points on Tallahassee. The Titans were once again led by freshman Jillie Ruiz-Paneto, who scored a game-high 19 points and went 7-13 from the field. Jalen Ponder racked up another double-double and had 10 points and 15 rebounds.  Freshman Alexa Kulakowski also had 15 points in the win.

Saturday, the Titans were up against Chipola College, the #1 team in the state and #3 team in the nation.  Recently, the Titans have really seen major contributions from freshman Alexa Kulakowski from Syracuse, NY. The freshman took over the game early with her precision shooting from beyond the arch.  Going 7-11 from the field at 4-6 from the three-point line, Kulakowski’s 21 points off the bench led all scorers in the game. With wins over two of the top teams in the state and the country, the Lady Titans jumped up to #6 in the polls!
