Titans Men's Basketball team take on Bobcats

Though the highly anticipated SPC Lady Titans game against Indian River State College was cancelled because of Hurricane Nicole, SPC’s men’s basketball team took on the Bobcats of Pasco-Hernando State College on Tuesday, Nov. 8. The Titans came into the game looking to bounce back from a hard-fought 3-point loss against the #2 team in the nation. Coach Earnest Crumbley was forced to play another game without the services of freshmen Jaden Ezomo and Samuel Pinder, who are recovering from injuries that have kept both out of the first two regular season games.

Brenden Williams continued to impress with his ability to be a standout on both sides of the court.  Williams racked up 26 points, shooting 9-18 from the field. Brandon Johnson (G-Boyd Anderson-Ft. Lauderdale) had his strongest outing of the young season, posting a double-double for the Titans with 21 points and 11 rebounds.  SPC saw a breakout performance from Ronnie Williams, who showed the ability to knock down some big shots in big spots of the game. Williams came off the bench and played 29 minutes, racking up 19 points, seven defensive rebounds and zero turnovers.

Pasco-Hernando kept the lead for most of the game by shooting the deep ball. As a team, they shot 11/23 from the 3-point line. They were led by Nirobi Peeler, who scored 26 points and was 6/11 from behind the arch. PHSC also saw a strong game from Tim King, who had 18 points and was a perfect 5-5 from the free throw line.

There were over 150 people in the crowd for the game, and the environment was electric. SPC Athletics would like to give a huge shout-out to the Brother to Brother Program and SPC’s First to Finished group, who were in attendance, cheering on the Titans. A special thank you to Djuan Fox, Shannon Ulrich, Amber Estlund, Barbara “Babbs” Weaver, Earnest Gant and Antonio Seay for their support and dedication to the students at SPC.
