Week One in the Books for SPC Men's Basketball

Week One in the Books for SPC Men's Basketball

The SPC Titans men's basketball season tipped off on Tuesday, Nov. 1 at the St. Petersburg/Gibbs Campus gymnasium when the Titans took on Victory Rock. With only two returners, Coach Earnest Crumbley leaned on defensive intensity for this early season match-up against a quality non-FCSAA opponent.

The Titans were led by transfer Dontaye Strawter, who posted a double-double, racking up 14 points and 10 rebounds in 25 minutes of play. Returner Branco Balingate also had a solid night in the post with a 10-point, 10 rebound outing. Freshman Joshua Meo showed off the defensive intensity early and often against Victory Rock, racking up five steals on D!

On Saturday, Nov. 5, the Titans took on former SunCoast Conference rival, the Florida   SouthWesten State College Buccaneers, who came into the game ranked the #2 team in the   NJCAA. The Titans were up to the challenge and played a stellar defensive game to slow down   FSW’s high-powered offense. The Titans were led by freshman Brenden Williams, who had 19   points and was 6-6 from the free throw line. SPC entered the half down only two points in a   game that saw the two teams tied on seven different occasions. In the end, FSW ended up   with a 66-63 victory, behind a 14-point, 10 rebound outing from Jadrian Tracey.

Next up for SPC: the Pasco-Hernando State College Bobcats on Tuesday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. at   home.
