A native of St. Petersburg and a graduate of Boca Ciega High School, Coach Crumbley graduated from Arizona Western College with an Associated of Applied Science. He then transferred to Utah State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Coach Crumbley then attended the University of South Florida and earned a Master’s in Educational Counseling. He has been a full-time employee at St. Petersburg College since 1992.
This is his 27th year as head coach of the St Petersburg College men’s basketball Program. Coach “C” is the longest tenure coach in the State of Florida and reached 400 wins in Feburay 2, 2019. He was inducted into the FCSAA Coaches Hall of Fame on March 8, 2014 as his team competed and became Region 8 Runner up. His team has appeared in the Regional’s 14 times as head coach of the Titans. His teams have won 8 Suncoast Conference championships, making him Conference Coach of the Year in 2001-02, 2004-05, 2005-06 and 2011-12, 2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2016-17. He also was Florida Coach of the Year in 2001-02 and 2016-17, when his team finished ninth in the nation. In addition, his team represented Region 8 in 2016-17 and lost to eventual National Champions, Hutchinson Community College in the quarter finals.
Coach Crumbley is member of the Delta Omicron Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. in St. Petersburg. He and his wife Shirley, Women on the Way Coordinator at the college, have two sons: Earnest Jr. and Kory. Earnest Jr. graduated in 2004 from Florida Atlantic University and was their all-time leading scorer and assist maker. He’s formerly the Head Coach at Redlands Community College in El Reno, Oklahoma. Kory graduated from St. Petersburg College in 2004 after two stellar seasons with the Titans and Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach after playing on a basketball scholarship.
