SPC Evens Series With Polk

SPC Evens Series With Polk

Conference games are won in the trenches and that was the narrative yesterday afternoon for the Eagles and Titans. SPC (28-16) lost game 1, 6-5 in extras but, came back in game 2 to win in walk off fashion 4-3. In game 1 it was tight contest until the 3rd inning when a couple of mistakes by the Titans equaled 5 runs for the Eagles. SPC came back with runs of their own in the bottom of the 3rd off of similar mistakes made by the Eagles. Tied at 5 a piece both teams played exceptional defense but the Titans gave up a hit and run that gave the win to Polk. Game 2 picked up right where both teams started with the Titans scoring 2 runs to go 2-0 over the Eagles. Then in the top of the 6th, Polk answered back with 3 runs of their own to take the lead. Momentum swung back to the Titans who in the bottom of the 7th scored a run to tie it and then a walk off hit by SPC to win the game. The Titans are off this weekend and travel down to Ft. Myers on Tuesday to take on Florida Southwestern in doubleheader action. The Titans will return home next weekend to host Hillsborough and Florida Southwestern in a conference tournament. First pitch for next Saturday's tournament is set for 1pm at Eddie C Moore softball complex in Clearwater.
