Saturday was a beautiful day for softball as the Titans of St. Petersburg College hosted their conference members in Hillsborough CC, Polk State, State College of Florida, and Florida Southwestern for a round robin tournament. As the members of the Suncoast Conference squared off against one another it was the Buccaneers of Florida Southwestern that won the day unscathed. As for the Titans (29-19) they took on Hillsborough early on defeating the Hawks 4-3 before facing the Bucs later that afternoon who defeated Polk State. In their game vs Hillsborough, SPC trailed 2-1 early on before the Hawks committed 5 errors that led to the Titans capitolizing on those mistakes to take the lead in the bottom of the 6th. After this game whatever gas the Hawks had left in the tank they had to regroup versus the Manatees of SCF. HCC was shut out 9-0 in 5 innings resulting in finishing 0-2 on the day. As far game 2 for SPC they too were not expecting an offensive onslaught against the third ranked Bucs. Florida Southwestern on all cylinders handing the Titans an 8-0 shutout loss. The Titans aren't done with Florida Southwestern as they will host those same Buccaneers this coming Thursday at Eddie Moore.
