Entering his second season at SPC, Espada is looking to continue to build the program. The 2023 season proved to be a step in the right direction as the team had an increase in overall wins, an improved conference record and were in playoff contention entering the last week of regular season play. Offensive numbers increased significantly as well, as the team's batting average, homerun total and stolen base total were a huge improvement compared to the 2022 season. In 2023, the Titans had 16 Sophomores, all who have moved on to 4-year institutions, producing 8 All-Conference players and 11 All-Academic Student-Athletes.

Born in New York, Oscar Espada and his family moved to Puerto Rico, where he attended and completed high school. Afterward, he attended Iowa State University, where he completed a degree in Sports Management in 1999.

Coach Espada has had a long history of player and program development at various levels throughout his career. In 2021, he served as an assistant coach at Mississippi Valley State University (NCAA Div I), in charge of pitching coach duties. Upon completion of his degree, Coach Espada returned to Puerto Rico, where he started a player development and college placement program, successfully placing over 300 student-athletes in college. In 2010, he was named pitching coach at the College of Lake County in Grayslake, Ill., where he spent two seasons under Head Coach Ken Kelly. In 2015, he co-founded Florida International Baseball Academy, and in 2017, he was named assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Texas College.

Coach Espada, who is also a proud member Phi Beta Sigma fraternity, believes in high academic standards and being involved in the community.
