Oscar Espada is entering his third season as the Head Baseball Coach at St. Petersburg College (SPC). Espada's tenure at SPC is marked by his leadership and dedication to developing the baseball program, fostering both athletic and academic success. Under his guidance, the program has continued to build a competitive reputation, with a focus on player development, teamwork, and community involvement. Espada’s coaching experience and passion for the sport have played a crucial role in shaping the team’s performance and culture.
 
St. Petersburg College (SPC) baseball has demonstrated a dynamic lineup, showcasing a mix of talent and versatility that has been central to the program's growth. With a blend of experienced upperclassmen and promising newcomers, the team is well-equipped to compete at a high level. Players across various positions have exhibited strong offensive and defensive skills, contributing to a well-rounded and competitive squad. Under Coach Oscar Espada’s leadership, the dynamic lineup has allowed SPC to remain competitive in the region, with an emphasis on adaptability and teamwork throughout the season.

In the last two seasons, the Titans have 28 Sophomores, all who have moved on to 4-year institutions, producing 12 All-Conference players and 19 All-Academic Student-Athletes.

Born in New York, Oscar Espada and his family moved to Puerto Rico, where he attended and completed high school. Afterward, he attended Iowa State University, where he completed a degree in Sports Management in 1999.

Coach Espada has had a long history of player and program development at various levels throughout his career. In 2021, he served as an assistant coach at Mississippi Valley State University (NCAA Div I), in charge of pitching coach duties. Upon completion of his degree, Coach Espada returned to Puerto Rico, where he started a player development and college placement program, successfully placing over 300 student-athletes in college. In 2010, he was named pitching coach at the College of Lake County in Grayslake, Ill., where he spent two seasons under Head Coach Ken Kelly. In 2015, he co-founded Florida International Baseball Academy, and in 2017, he was named assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Texas College. 

Coach Espada, who is also a proud member Phi Beta Sigma fraternity, believes in high academic standards and being involved in the community.
